R. Stephen Beecroft, the U.S. ambassador to Egypt, said that terrorism became like a plague which many countries around the world suffer from. Washington and its allies are trying to destroy this wide spread plague.
The ambassador said that Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with the heads of the Arab countries are the beginning of his preset policies in the Middle East, including the policy of reducing Russian influence in the region.
Beecroft also stressed that Russia’s behavior in the past 5 years has aggravated many crises in the Middle East. Trump’s visit aims to reduce Russian influence, dismantle terrorist groups and defend the principles of liberalism and democracy.
He said that the rich civilization and culture of the noble people of Egypt and the fateful role of Egypt in the Middle East was enough for the U.S. embassy to prevent from the transition of the Arab-American summit from Sharm El Sheikh to Riyadh. He is hopeful that the president Trump pays more attention to Cairo and Egypt in his trip to the Middle East.
