Trump’s first travel after taking the office is planned for Saudi Arabia and two other religious sites of the world. According to the reports, Trump will visit Riyadh administrative officials and king. The news was published in Politico for the first time.
Talking about the visit to the Muslim country, Trump said boosting cooperation with Saudi Arabia can help them fade out extremism in the region. Avoiding any reference to multiple wars started by Saudi Arabia, Trump expressed his belief in Saudi’s role in controlling the tensions in the middle east. He also said Saudi Arabia:
is the custodian of the two holiest sites in Islam, and it is there that we will begin to construct a new foundation of cooperation and support with our Muslim allies to combat extremism, terrorism and violence, and to embrace a more just and hopeful future for young Muslims in their countries.
This is while The American president’s views towards Saudi Arabia has metamorphosed after inauguration. His recurrent tweets slamming Obama about his relationships with Saudi Arabia and encouraging the officials to denigrate the wealthy country and just make money out of it can still be found in his tweeter account. In one of his tweets in 2014, Trump wrote, “Tell Saudi Arabia and others that we want (demand!) free oil for the next ten years or we will not protect their private Boeing 747s.Pay up!”
Tell Saudi Arabia and others that we want (demand!) free oil for the next ten years or we will not protect their private Boeing 747s.Pay up!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 11, 2014
In another tweet, he belittled the Saudis to mouth pieces without guts.
His tweets against Alwaleed Talal, the Saudi tycoon, during the primary campaigns in late 2015 made much controversy.
The transformation in attitudes towards Saudi Arabia can be analyzed financially and politically. Trump means to use the oil sources in Saudi Arabia while using the dependent country to make the region unsafe for its countries.
Moreover, His Travel to Saudi Arabia is against his campaign promises to the people. The main pole of his promises in presidential campaign was to focus all powers, concentrations, and planning inward; the America and not outside it. He recurrently asserted that political movements should be directed in a way to help the United States stronger economically.
However, the president who wanted to “Make America Great Again” has passed a major part of his first 110 days in disputes outside the country. The controversy over North Korea which is still the main worry of the world as to be the next war was set off by Trump without any resolution. Sending carriers to Korean Penisula and expending millions of Dollars for setting up THAAD military base only fueled the tensions.
The airstrike on Syrian airbase was also another controversial decision made by trump which could lead to another war. Disputes with Russia over Syria and accusations against Moscow was only firing the tensions. Apart from the staggering costs of the missile strikes which killed dozens of civilians, these policies disappointed the Americans about the president who wanted to plan for the advancement of the country, but only made more tensions outside the country.
