Both the Presidents have also addressed to a press conference in which Mr. Trump has said that he will pursue the peace dialogue between Israel and Palestine. Trump while praising Mahmoud Abbas, has said that Mr. Abbas is the only Palestinian leader who has positive intentions for peace and prosperity between Israel and Palestine and has signed on a historic peace deal.
President Abbas has said that he under American leadership and wisdom, with Trump’s negotiating ability, after the grace of God and with America’s help, believes that he can be partners, true partners with US to bring about a historic peace treaty.
He further added that Palestine agrees on the 1967 borders with two state solution, while it is the only oppressed country in the world whose land is occupied.
It is noteworthy that Israel rejects the 1967 lines as a possible border, saying it would impose great security risks for Israel.
It is interesting to know that the West and Israel consider Palestine as a risk for Israel while according a Palestinian source, since August 2015, around 260 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces and more than 18,000 wounded, whereas according to a Israeli source, some 48 Israelis have been killed and 608 wounded in attacks by individual Palestinian Intifada during the same period. So it seems quite clear that who has been a threat to whom.
