The Spanish supreme court confirmed a 21-month prison sentence for Leonel Messi, the Argentinian soccer star. The sentence is said to due to breaching tax rules on three cases in 2007, 2008, and 2009. He was 7 months in prison for each of the frauds and also fined 532,313.31 euros.
The total amount of tax offences is £3.5 million. Besides, he also failed to declare £8.7 million in image rights. His father had also been sentenced to 21 months in jail, but his was decreased to 15 months.
Reports indicate the fans of the soccer super player should not be worried about his future. According to the laws in Spain, the sentences under two years can be served as probation. So, he is unlikely to spend any time in prison.
