Traces of Turkish Security Services’ Role in Assassination of Saeed Karimiyan, Iranian TV CEO in Turkey

Saeed Karimiyan joined the Mujahidin Khalq Organization (MKO) having been encouraged by his parents. He began his media activities for them in Iraq. Karimiyan talent in media and advertising helped him on his way to achieve organizational growth at Iranian oppositions' official media in America.

After a while, he was acquainted with a man named Gholam Reza Farahan. Cooperating with MKO and receiving supports from the Turkish intelligence service, he officially launched GEM TV in 2006. The network's main mission was attracting artists from Iran, having cultural and political relations with the opposition abroad and creating a soft coup in Iran.

Little by little GEM was gaining more power and the proud owner of the channel had problems with the organization about the artistic and administrational issues. In the meantime, he became prey to the Iranian security services through one of his relatives. He gave them information about the related artists, Iranian rebels abroad, their economic partners and even about Iran's opposition.

The partnership, which started two years ago, was discovered through Turkey's intelligence and security service and they, in turn, informed MKO. Worried about the issue, they decided to remove him from their network. In recent months, Saeed Karimiyan was removed from his security cover due to unspecified reasons. It was the best chance to assassinate him. Karimiyan was shot in a military zone with 27 bullets tearing his body apart. Using such huge amount of the bullets indicates their high cooperation with the Turkish intelligence service.
