“The time has come openly to organize a formal Union, a coalition of all the ‘moderate’ forces in the middle East against terror. Moderate Sunni States understand that the greatest danger to them are not Israel, not Zionism, and Iran,” said Lieberman.
He added that partners of an Alliance can be both Muslims and Jews or Christians. As an example of such an Alliance Lieberman called NATO.
“This coalition needs to be a real commitment. Look at NATO. The basis of the Alliance lies in the principle that each country is ready both to ‘defend’ and to accept protection from other countries,” added Lieberman.
He also noted that Israel could help the Arab countries with military know-how and with the modernization of their armies.
“’Moderate’ Arab countries need Israel for their survival more than Israel needs them,” concluded Lieberman.
