The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has intercepted and targeted a ballistic missile in Semnan province by an Iranian-designed long-range mobile air defense system which is known as Iranian-s300 (named Bavar-373).
After the Russian ban on exporting S-300 to Iran, ex-Defense minister Ahmad Vahidi told Iranian media that they will develop a similar domestic system by themselves: "We have planned to build a long-range air defense missile system similar to S-300. By God's grace and by the Iranian engineers' efforts, we will reach self-sufficiency in this regard."
"Bavar-373 missile system is in progress and the frequent testing helps us to improve the system", Iran's deputy defense minister said.
