Mohammad al-Karbouli, the Iraqi MP from the western province of Anbar and head of (Solution) parliamentary bloc purportedly met early last week with Tzipi Hotovely — deputy minister of Israeli foreign affairs whose mother is a Jew from Iraq — in a luxurious hotel in the Jordanian resort city of Aqaba. This clandestine meeting was held under the auspices of Dr. Faisal Al-Fayez, the former Jordanian prime minister who has close ties with King Abdullah II of Jordan. According to well-informed sources, Mr. al-Karbouli voiced optimism for the future of those Iraqi Jewish families forced to leave Iraq and immigrate to newly born state of Israel following the fall of monarchy during 1950 and 60s. The Iraqi parliamentarian hoped that in near future those expelled Iraqi Jews can return to their ancestral home. Last year, al-Karbouli traveled to Saudi Arabia,of course without the knowledge of the parliament , and in series of inane remarks claimed that he was abducted by Saudi General Intelligence Directorate (GID) and later, he managed to somehow escape from his captors. Ms Hotoveli, a notorious religious hardliner and Jewish chauvinist, always took every opportunity to inveigh her dark feelings of ethnic hatred on Palestinian Arabs, commonly known as 1948 Arabs, and frequently threatened them to confiscate their properties.
