The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs published a research entitled “Palestine strengthening ties with Iran” saying that Egypt will soon go in a direction that prefers Iran’s influence in the Gaza Strip to the influence of Qatar and Turkey because Qatar and Turkey are both as an enemy and a threat to Egypt.
An Israeli professor Pinhas Inbari who is known for his close ties to Israel’s Cabinet has written the research and added: “on the one hand, the balance of power in Gaza between Turkey and Qatar-through passages located between Gaza and Israel- and on the other hand, Iran’s influence-through Sinai- will make Cairo to prefer the influence of Iran soon.”
According to al-Mayadeen, Inbari wrote Egypt led by Abdel Fattah al-Sisi does not expect help from Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ new leader in Gaza, in the fight against ISIS in Sinai Peninsula because the movement tends to keep relief lines and arms transfer.
Despite the security cooperation between Israel and Egypt in the Sinai and beyond, Egypt considers Turkey and Qatar as a threat.
The Israeli analyst talked about the political situation after Donald Trump administration, announcing cordial relations between Washington and Tel Aviv and Netanyahu’s recent visit with Trump and wrote: “the meeting was focused on overt and covert cooperation against Iran. It will lead Iran’s further efforts to strengthen its influence in Gaza as preventive measures against Israel.”
